(Début)

In Feb. 07' one of the most incredible bands released a record named "CITIES".Anberlin released a 12 track cd, 15+dvd if you got the special edition, charting 20 on billboards. You could say Anberlin was the band of 07' and hopefully the band of 08', which most likely they will be. CITIES got great reviews, so i thought i should write my own review of this CD, but of course I'm one of the biggest Anberlin Fans so i already have a review written in my head. ha.

Cities begins with a introduction to the CD,(Debut), to being your trip threw the cd, to set the mood for the cd, a more mature side of Anberlin's music. But right as the next track starts, Godspeed, Anberlin takes you right to where has always been; Pounding drums, great vocals, insane guitars, and awesome bass. Godspeed's pounding drums and guitar solo's really make the song along with Stephen Christian's "HEY HEY's". Makes this song amazing for anyone who gets the chance to see Anberlin's set.

Following Godspeed, comes Adelaide. A fun popish sounds song, its a fun song, but not much to talk about. Very catchy though, would probably get stuck in your head for a very long time. It seems to be one of those Anberlin songs everyone knows, or knows parts of the song too just sing along too.

Next track would be, A Whisper & A Clamor. I think this is one of the tracks on CITIES where you can tell Stephen has really worked on his voice. Its one of those tracks that go from a low pitch to a high pitch. Also a very catchy song. Great song to see live. The ending of the song is brilliant, just because it sets up the mood for the next track.

The Unwinding Cable Car is proof to anybody that Anberlin can just write the most beautiful lyrics, music included. His voice really excels in this track. And the lyrics are so amazing and seem to take you another place. Really just shows you how much these guys grown into amazing musicians.

There Is No Mathematics To Love And Loss is the following track. This song kinda brings back a "Blueprints to the Blackmarket" feel. Cause of the keyboardish sounding part in the beginning. Ha i love the first line of the song "If you're leaving then leave the cigarettes" hahahah. I'm not sure its just kinda shows Stephens inner sassy. Also very catchy song, fast pace, a good relief right after The Unwinding Cable Car. But sets up a good stage for the next song.

Hello Alone is a good song to see live, not so much just too listen too.Yes his voice is pretty impressive in this song, and it has a good meaning, but its just kinda not a interesting song to me. Like its a very good song, i just find myself not able to listen to it twice in a row. But the siren sound in the back round is very good contribution to the song.

Alexithymia is the following track to Hello Alone. I think its one of my favorite Anberlin song's even though i dont listen to it enough. It has a great meaning and a good beat and has one of the most memorable Anberlin quotes "Theres more to living than being alive." This is also one of the Anberlin tracks that really show what Anberlin has got to show people. Very good song, but i can't seem to listen to it more than once in a row.

Reclusion is one of the songs that really show who Stephen Christian is. You can tell by his lyrics what he's really all about. Its a very cool song to listen too, and the awesome guitar solo does alot of the song. Not much to say about it, except that its good, with great song lyrics. After a few fast songs Anberlin gives you a break with Inevitable. One of their most beautiful songs they've written. Its just a really pretty song with also some great lyrics. And kinda make you think about your past relationships or your current relationship. The soft sounding drums in the back round at the end of this songs get you ready for the next track.

Dismantle.Repair. i think is the best track on this cd. Its very well thought out, and I feel it brings such a great feeling to a person. This song is in Anberlin top 10 songs to see live by them. With "Things are ganna change now for the better" the lyrics also make you think a bit about live. But nobody could deny, their favoirte part of this songs is the "DISMANTLE ME DOWN. REPAIR!" The part where the music starts. Ahh just so great. Amazing song really.

For the last track on the CD theres not much to say, except that its amazing. (FIN*) is one of Anberlin's best written songs. With Stephen voice and the music in the back takes you to another place. Another City. This is the song Anberlin really shows you how mature they are and how much their music has evoloved. Its one of the most amazing songs i've ever heard. With the children singing in the backround just create this setting that i can't even explain. Its just truly amazing. Amazing way to end the cd.

Even though this CITIES is amazing i feel as if this cd could be so much than what it is. I think there are only a few songs that really do stand out, but not enough songs. I mean Never Take Friendship Personal is a hard cd to top, but i expected a little more out of the cd. A bit of more an edge. I feel as if they kinda lost that edge that they had. And they've gotten a bit soft. I mean i've studied Anberlin's sound so many times. countless times, but i just feel as if they could've done so much with the sound. But still all in all its a great CD.
Peace,
Zarina.
I can't structure a goddamn sentence.
